why do you need your motor pinned? FD motors are pretty beefy around the dowel ereas..

100% BS procedure for 13B-REW motors.

http://www.riceracing.com.au/13B-REW-engines.htm

I have personally seen a 850rwhp 13B methanol turbo set up that ran 8'z shit its engine block on the dyno (was doweled) and it split across the plates where it was weakened by this hype.

The said shop needed to be at the event and ported a 13B-REW to match the rooted engine! it did the whole race meeting on this factory standard engine! they expected to not last another dyno session let alone do the whole meeting, They did both and to this day they don't run extra dowels nor studs or any other garbage!

The amount of money they saved in not sending engine blocks away to be molested (for no reason other than to make the weaker) was a bonus :)

So how much power are you planning to make? 1000rwhp? :seeya: 80psi boost pressure? back to reality though (for us on the road) have a look at the old ANAL RX7 on my site *link above* (I scanned the article myself from 1997) look at that engine block and tell me where the homo pony tail pinning action is  you wont see any

No worries mate, it was not meant to be a "new guy" thing or any kind of forum intimidation (I am not into that type of crap) I don't care if you have one post or 10,000, if you Joe Nobody of Jesus. I just tell it how it is based of my real world experience from many years and not just my own dealings but having many repeated over almost 2 decades across all kinds of end users.

It can read wrongly, the point is don't get too hung up (for anyone) in the text or RR style :seeya: just use your own logic and facts, I do my best not to blow my own trumpet but to show other third party evidence. Not the type "my brothers cousin nephew who had a 9 second rotor" type of crap but people who have actually done something other than talk shit on the internet while fostering a mad pony tail :icon_tup:

Hope it helps some, for others who have opinions the other way, good luck to you too :leaving:

Peace :001_005:

What about for S4 turbo engines? Is it still a BS procedure?

What about for S4 turbo engines? Is it still a BS procedure?

S4 Turbo after you exceed 24psi boost (say 500bhp) on a T04 turbo has not much margin left if you have any type of misfire or detonation, these engines along with early 13B's and 12A's will benefit from some extra Dowels to share the combustion loads (or in most cases miss combustion pressure spikes!).

13B-REW and T2 S5 big boss plates need no such modifications at all.
