View Full Version : What HKS gauge series is this?

It's a discontinued one, that's for sure. But does anyone know what series this gauge is from? It matches the stock cluster in the FC almost perfectly and I've so far got a boost gauge and EGT gauge. If I could find a pair of temp gauges and an oil pressure the same type I'd be sorted.

Not sure what series, but it looks to have seen better days! Looks like an old DB series, before they changed the #' & letters to the more fancy style.

Well I've got rust on every other part of my car; to not have it on my gauges would seem a little out of place!

If it's functional then why not right!

No, it is not the DB series.
This particular gauge is peak / hold, but HKS didn't name their series back then.
This is one of the older P/H gauges HKS made.
Right after this gauge came out, HKS started making white face gauges that came with green backlit.
Shortly after that, HKS started making gauges with "fancy" fonts.
None of them had a specific series name as they do now.
They were just known as electronic peak / hold and described by black / white face and color of the backlighting.

The needle looked like the DB. Threw me off my bad. My old HKS 60mm gauges looked like these.

Hey, don't worry about it...
Very few people know the vintage HKS stuff. :)

I think HKS kept the guts of the gauges, but changed the bezels and faces.
The DB series came out after all the funky font gauges.

My old HKS 60mm gauges looked like these.
That pic is actually of the first line of electronic peak / hold gauges that were the distinctive orange graphics.
Prior to that, the HKS gauges were all white graphics, and I don't believe there were any peak / hold type.
Those gauges predate the one posted by the OP.

Side note, if you're lucky, the part number should still be taped onto the gauge body itself.
HKS used silver foil tape that had black stamped alpha numeric that all gauges should have.
Most times this label is still on the gauge, unless someone peeled it off on purpose.

Cheers for the info guys. Have managed to source an oil pressure gauge so just have to keep my eyes open for any temp ones in the same series available :)

Yeah I figured the ones I had were an earlier design. They appear to be using the same needle design as the OP's in current gauges. As the OP said thanks for the info.

Am starting to wonder if the only 3 gauges from this series were the boost gauge, oil pressure and exhaust temp gauges. Can't find any info on Japanese or English pages about any temp gauges:(. Kind of sucks as I'd have loved a whole set like that.
