Awesome. I also heard that MSD might make and upgrade for the early distributors as well. I looked on their site and didnt see anything but im notoriously bad at searching. lol

Make sure you get a dizzy from an 81-85 12A (hint: the igniter's mounted
on the side of the dizzy). The 80 dizzy is weak and has some design flaws.

Im already trying to source one. Ill make sure i stay within those years. As far as the Carb im lookin at a weber side draft setup. Specifically the one Mazdatrix sells.

Either 12A or 13B work just fine. Both have the same total advance, but the advance curve is different.

I didnt think the 13b in the gsl-se was carbed. it was fuel injected was it not?

he's talking about early 13b's from the 70's (Not Rx-7)

just get a Rx-7 dizzy with 2 ignitors (late 80-UP 12a) on the side and you are done. To my knowledge noone makes and "aftermarket" distributor for Rx-7s. Should be able to find a good condition one for $30-$50. Upgraded ignition will come by way of better coils or ign box.

as %7 said, there is a bit of a difference in the curve, so i may be preferable, but im not sure how they directly compare. Or a way to positively identify one.

Yep, I was referring to GSL-SE distributors vs. '81+ 12A distributors. Don't quote me on this but I think the GSL-SE dizzy advances faster than the 12A dizzy. The specs are probably in an FSM somewhere, but I don't have one handy. Like I said, though, either one will work just fine. I've used both and haven't noticed a difference.

Sweet. I'll watch your build. I have a spare NA FC 6 port laying around that i haven't found a use for. I was thinking about porting it and throwing a carb on it.
