So I will start by saying hello and like most members here I transferred over from RX7club.com.
I have been a member there since 99 or 2000 but my registered date says 2001. I went on a 7 year hiatus from RX7's and recently came back with an 88 GTU project I am working on.
I have posted a few things on the RX7club site since I came back and am uterly disgusted with how people carry theirselves on the forums. It's nothing but little kids and for lack of better words "Fuck Faces". They come and shit in your thread and go off topic to the point where you have to get a moderator to clean it up.
Because I am such a long term member I decided I would ask some old friends who are now moderators if I could contribute and become a moderator to help clean up.
On top of that I cant even post a fucking thing in the lounge without all the kiddies jumping in and shitting all over the place like a bunch of fucking monkeys.
Examples of thread shitting on RX7Club.com, Please note these threads have been cleaned up and still look this shitty.

Welcome, you'll find; like the rest of us, that this forum is far different from the "evil forum".

Because I am such a long term member I decided I would ask some old friends who are now moderators if I could contribute and become a moderator to help clean up. It was then that I was told "I would need to ask the owners". I thought to myself "that's an odd thing to say". After some investigating I found the site was bought out while I was gone and now charges people to sell on the forums and after more searching I found the story about RotaryResurection who I remember from my posting days quite well.
I was already turned off by the fact that the website is now all about profit and making someone's pockets fatter by abusing the knowledge of the community who originally posted to help out others, NOT pay someones bills!
On top of that I cant even post a fucking thing in the lounge without all the kiddies jumping in and shitting all over the place like a bunch of fucking monkeys.
I personally hope InternetBrands tanks and know some people who can make that happen but thats enough of that talk.
For now I remain a member there for parts and such but I refuse to ever post anything helpful again.

I used to sell custom ignition systems, Auto to Manual conversion brackets, Custom white face gauges and a fuel injection conversion kit for 1st gens. Now I can only imagine what would happen if I tried to sell those parts, even though I am far from a reseller. I am just an average Joe working in the IT field who likes to make things and share them with the community. try it, see first hand and don't leave it to hearsay...it won't be good (you'll have to pay...aka give them their cut for owning the site) but it's the only way to see what we've been saying for over a year.

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=907516trust me we don't need examples of the 7club, if we're here we know...well, a select few ignore it but that's their problem.

http://www.davidorlo.com/?cat=13Welcome to the club and I hope you tell our friends and fellow enthusiasts about RCC and what we're doing.
Good story! (please note that it's double posted on your site.) I can't wait to see the GTU!

haha, i saw it and thought it was funny. Don't really know if that's the way to go...i already get shit for talking shit about the 7club I can't imagine the reaction from people if we go on and do that.
What we've been asking members to do it make clear thread titles and content along with tagging threads in order for the crawlers to lead to our threads/posts better.
I don't want to say no because I like the idea, it's just that quite a few people here still like/visit the 7club and might:
a. snitch
b. bitch
c. ditch
d. all of the above.
I'll publicly come out and say I'll do anything to keep traffic away from the 7club ( I refuse to click on any rx7club-related link) and I like your idea...i just don't know if the bleeding hearts will allow it.

Glad you found the site Dave... I'm considered a young one still by 7 club standards, but I'm fine with that... I'm trying to use the site less and less, as it seems most people are in it just to flaunt their E penis, so I stick to the regonial forum, and the archives...
Good to see your back on the rotor side....
Also good to have more knowledgeable users around, ones with level heads, and a dash of common sense....
Cheers,
J.

Welcome aboard.
The RX-7 Club Lounge is the probably the biggest waste of bandwidth on the internet. I made the mistake of posting in there a month or so ago. The degradation of the entire website as a whole the past few years is also appalling. There's still lots of good information and cool people, but the bad is starting to outweigh the good.

Yeah the site will start to die off as all the real RX7 techs realize their only their helping newb's who dont want to help themselves and otherwise people who don't even appreciate it anyway.
The guy shitting all over your thread in the lounge will be the same guy asking you for help the next week in a generation specific thread.
I've been building / rebuilding / and making custom parts for RX7's since early 2000's and have a ton of knowledge and experience to share but I'm not willing to share with the same people who bash me in the lounge for no reason other than the fact that they can get away with it and its perfectly acceptable over there.

Welcome aboard! :)
Since you're somewhat local (at least in the same state) I figured I'd invite you to the autocross/rotary meet on the 27th. Be cool if you could make it, always happy to meet another rotorhead...

Currently my Rex needs some engine work, the back rotor has 30 PSI comp. I guess it was rebuilt so I'm guessing bad oil seals.
Gonna rip into it soon and replace the bad parts. Until then I wouldn't be too happy being around a bunch of RX7's when mine is at home broke :(
Raincheck though.

Unfortunately that's the direction many of the old car enthusiast sites are going. I remember reading an article about InternetBrands and other similar organizations somewhere, and it was a bit depressing.

I did a bit of research about IB on at least 10 different car forums...9 banned me for asking "how have things changed since IB bought out your forum?" (actually 2 of the 9 were pre-bans since my email was not allowed to be used even though I've never been on their site) and only ONE (Volvo forum) answered and they were on the same boat as the 7club.
:dunno: Glad you guys are here and I hope you tell your friends and fellow rotorheads. Between the awesome cars in Rotay Of The Month and the member base I KNOW you'll love this place.
If anyone wants to start up a replacement forum for other automotive sites in the same way RCC was founded let me know. I'll be happy to provide assistance.

why does that not surprise me... not that any of us can blame IB, I mean, they are a company... and just like any other company, they are looking after their #1 priority, which is the bottom line....
in no way am I saying I support what they did, or how they went about doing it... but it it what I would come to expect of any company of that size, or in that much control, they are concerned about only a very few things...
it seems like those few things did not include much concern for the small guys in the pond that really help the local rotor community, but thats just who they are...
its sucks that it all had to Happen... but at least Kevin, Phil and few others were willing to stick up to them, and create such a small vendor friendly forum... and to you guys... I raise my glass...
If I ever have the pleasure of meeting any of you in person... I'm buying a round or two...
Jon.

Anything that internetbrands has bought has turned to shit. Just look at RX8Club too. The problem is that the cars are getting so cheap to purchase, that it is younger & younger people buying it (mentality is totally diff). Phil (herblenny) has really done the rotary community good by having this Forum.

Welcome to the forum, we're not a huge group over here but there's a lot of knowledge. It's a good atmosphere. Plus from time to time you get live video feeds from the events.

I'm a new member here as well as RX7club, maybe I wasn't registered long enough but RX7club does have some very good archives and has serious people that can help, just ignore the "fuck faces" is the way I do it.
