I would love to, but I don't think it would be possible this year.

I already have a vacation booked this fall :(

I like the spring with the warmer weather, but I'm not partial either way. I'd show up regardless :)

Is this something for this year or thinking of making the change for 2011?

Obviously in October with the leaves fallings, this would be great. You are thinking of doing this as a second, smaller event right?

Herblenny

David,

I was thinking late September/October of this year... as I'm not going to enjoy this coming event, I thought maybe fall event might be cool. It would be way more relaxed and less planned event. Pretty much we all head up, meet up, and enjoy the scenery.

Just a thought... I'm guessing maybe 100 or so of 300 people would be interested?

PhilI'd definitely be down for something like that. As my house in Asheville will finally be completed in the next two months, this would be a no brainer for me.

I'm thinking sometime in OCT??

It will be kind of unofficial DGRRX Fall... No car show, no photoshoot, no planned meals, no banquet... just set date, we meet up somewhere, event T-shirt to show we met up, and head count.

I'll try to get a lodge discount and design a cool shirt :)

What do you guys think about Oct 8th - 10th??

Hey Phil,
What about doing something like the "Speed4Sale" event or the Texas Supra event where 1 day was a track day at Talladega road course, 1 day a drag race at Steele and car show. Or add in a 60-130mph run or do an "Ultimate Street Car event" that might include an autocross and a 0-100-0mph event. I can get the device to clock those events. You could do them on the drag strip if it was rented. This way, no cops would get involved unless there was a little street action one night. This might be better suited for a smaller group! That do you think?

I thought about this many times.. I thought Speed4Sale did a good job but seems like they don't allow rotaries anymore and they are more into GTRs. I also talked to Edgar about doing some sort of 1/4 mile event and he said he could bring some high HP rotary guys...

Also, Zoomfest is in July for track so I'll try to check on it after zoomfest...

Can we take a quick vote as how many people would be interested in something like what Speed4Sale used to have?? track day, drag racing, and car show?? I could also work with local SCCA and see if we could do AutoX with local guys.. so schedule will be:

Friday - TGPR track day
Saturday - 1/4 mile drag
Sunday - AutoX

Thats funny as me an Ernie were just talking about this. We like the way Phil is running these but we need a track to do our things SAFE! No more tickets! We have cars made for the track (drag or auto X) so I vote we do one at a motorplex that has both a road and drag event! Come on Phil....

Sounds like people are interested in three day madness??

OK.. Let me talk to some people... I been wanting to do some sort of event at TGPR and have checked it out before. Friday TGPR will be about 150-175/car, we could also have some sort of gathering and such. We could than do Steele, AL 1/4mile runs on saturday morning to day... but problem is if weather is bad, the whole event is a wash out for drag. I have to check and see if they have some sort of policy for rain out and also have some sort of alternate plan if it rains... Maybe a day of Barber Motorsport park bike museum tour??

And finally, AutoX.. Local Bham guys run Sunday AutoX. I think its 25-40 to do a day. Its held at a local dog track parking and there are ton of space to park at least 2-300 cars addition to autoX. I'll see if I can talk to someone about us just joining them.

All these locations are about an hour to 1.5 hours away from each other.

I'm doing Zoomfest this year.. especially its in my backyard :)

I'm also for fall DGRR as I didn't even get to drive..

Regarding 3 day massive all out event is that it will take some capital to run it and also commitment from quite a few. I could envision that it would be awesome to see 7, 8, 9 sec rotaries doing wheels and such (as Edgar from E&J knows ton of people). And also see people like Mike, Ernie, and other hard core rotary drag guys to show and run.

And road course side, my builder's son knows TGPR like back of his hand and has driven F1 cars in Spain, who could be an instructor at the event and do exhibition runs in his cart.. maybe :)

But all will depend on if we have good number of interested party to do this... and people will show no matter it rains or shine :)

TitaniumTT
04-21-2010, 05:04 PM
I like where this is going Phil. I'm down for any or all of the above. I'm going to reg for ZoomFest damn soon so if you want to do an all out three day madness event that's sahweet... or even just a smaller gathering of guys @ NHVH or Fontana for 2 days of hanging out and driving around like Tray's B3R. I'm down for it.

Thanks for considering this Phil. I built my car to do all the events so I'd love to do it. My brother would also do the track event (not a rotary though).
