Any 'vert subwoofer enclosures out there?

Curious to see how everyone mounted their 'vert subs... I have an amplified tube in the trunk right now, want to switch to something behind the seats.

You shouldn't have too much problem sorting it out. For a "fitted" box make cardboard templates and them sort it out from there. Minor trig skills required, but that's it. A little imagination and elbow grease will help you create a nice enclosure.

I'm currently working on a fg box and how-to write up for my FD. Shallow mount subs will probably work best for you and have become rather common with several companies making subs that require 5" or less; Pioneer, Alpine, Blaupunkt, etc.

Nah, I'm going to just fiberglass in the bottom to mold to the curves. Much, much easier that way. I'm just trying to figure out how to aim the sub.

I made a sub enclosure for my vert that goes under the spare tire cover in the cabin. It's a close fit It's nice.. I wish I would have done it in the spring because I was hasteful when I did it in the winter (no garage so I froze). My next one will be tons better with all the experience I gained. I can get more pictures and I have a few during the process (just gotta upload them). If you like I could make you one as I thought about making a few for extra cash.

Oh yeah, as you can see mine is aimed almost straight up. I had to get all the air space out of it I could. It would probably sound better aimed at the seat but I was wanting the enclosure to be covered by the spare tire cover. I rode around with out the cover and could tell a difference when I finally put the cover back on.. The sound was better with the cover. I think most of the sound waves just escape or get dampened by the top. I am thinking about putting some dynamat on the underside of the cover to keep and channel more of the sound towards the front.

Shit I don't know what I'm saying I'm quite tired..hopefully this isn't just one big rambling. If you have never fibreglassed before you are in for some fun.. It's not hard but by the time you get done you will be wishing that you could redo the first half since you learned from your mistakes and the top half is much better

i have two 8"s hidden in the shock towers :) no space lost, just enough bass, working on getting rid of the rattle of the plastic speaker grilles though.

Cool sub box. Any finished & installed pics? Any plans on making some extras in the future? I may be interested.

Well it was more or less finished there. it does fit under the rear carpet. I didn't do much else to the appearence of it.. I did have to flush mount the sub so it would fit. I never got around to making a table for the amps to be attached to. But sure I can take pictures of it in the car later and post them.

As for making more I can but it will not be cheap. 300-400 I'd guess I'd have to find me a cheaper supplier of fibreglass mat. This 3 square metres for 5-7 dollars I think it was nearly broke me. If you were interested and serious about getting one I'll get prices and so on figure out how much it would be completed and get a deposit and begin work. As for now I'm replacing my top this weekend or the next.

first five shots.. I haven't yet go my top completely installed so I don't have an in shot as of yet sorry for taking soooo long.

Purple was first paint that was grabbed. I had thought about maybe painting it at one time.

and the rest.. This is my first and only fibreglass project.. I think I did rather well. I had the whole process down once I got the the top half of the box so my next would definitely be better. I'm planning on doing some small projects later.. like make some tweeter pods and my rear bumper is cracked. And fixing my center console.

BTW I have a 12" sub and it required 1.25 cu/ft and I am super close to it. I stuffed it with a pound of polyfill to make up for the rest. I haven't tried the box without the polyfill so I don't know if it hurts, helps, or does nothing. and Incase you where wonering the bodyfiller spots was small leaks.
