The slide occurred way down by the large gravel space down next to the river, which is at the very edge of the Dragon on the TN side. The rest of it is fine, and fully accessible through the NC side.

Don't worry people, if the county doesn't have it cleaned up within the week, the locals will do it themselves!!

Response time to accidents or emergencies could be hindered by the rockslide's instability or repair work to the slide.

I miss my old Cherokee. 4.0 ltr., 5 spd., Up Country susp. Damn thing could do anything, go anywhere. And my even older '79 Scout...345 V-8 and all the torque ever produced. Literally, and this is not exaggeration, pulled down small buildings with that beast. Ah yes, I remember the days before my rotary infection took hold, and the feeling of earth moving torque.

I get about 18 mpg highway spinning 31's, and about 16mpg towing the FD :D It's cheaper to run the XJ than the 7 but I'll gladly take fuel donations! I've found the key is to stay ~1800 rpm's Over that the effeicency really drops off. I want to toss on a header and the later model intake mani and see what happens

Yea, I run 31s too.. but I've got the infamous 6spd daimler trans... it does help, but only a little...

When I need a clutch, one of those trans' is going in. Maybe a 4:1 x-fer case as well....

My TJ 4.0L still gets roughly 20mpg highway, lol.... thats not tooo horrible for the size motor.

My '96 Cherokee w/4.0 and 5-spd consistently got 24 mpg at 70 mph. Not bad for a rectangle with 4.10 gears.

My 99 GC 4.0 gets around 20mpg still with over 145000 on the clock. Not bad considering how much heavier it is than a standard Cherokee.

We find it interesting that alot of rotary guys drive 4.0L Perfect complement to a rotary. Clean, reliable, good gas mileage, park whereever you want for x-mas shopping ;)... TORQUE @ IDLE :rofl:

Okay, with all of you XJ lovers here, someone find me a decent wiring diagram for a 93 4.0L. I've scoured the net for 2 days now, and save for autozone, I've yet to find jack shit. The forum mods seem to be afraid to post anything for fear of a lawsuit, and the few links I've found are dead. Even with the overwhelming jeep following on the net, I cannot find any bootleg FSM's online either. What gives?

We have one that suddenly developed electrical issues...something is backfeeding juice into the main ignition circuit, meaning that it's impossible to turn the engine off even with the key out. Even if you pull a fuse to kill the engine, some of the other accessories remain powered with the key off including interior lights, gauges, dash warning lights, etc. I can't trace the problem because I can't find a good enough wiring diagram...and the f*(&^%^g fuse box isn't even friggen LABELED.

Wish I could help Kevin, I have a '98 FSM which does no good for '93 model. I will say it sounds like the main ignition relay is doing some naughty things, internally shorted. Lemme see if I have the old Haynes manual for my old '88 kicking around somewhere. They should be similar, at least it could tell you which fuse is what. If memory serves though, the fuse/relay locations and functions are in the owners manual

You have a bad ground somewhere. "Do the dome lights stay on and the ignition circuit won't shut down? Does it ever shut down? I'd go to the dealership and photocopy the pages that show the ground locations. Then I'd go check each one.
The factory manual has a section with each ground desgnation (i.e. G206) and tells what components ground through that connection. Then another section will show you a pic of G206 to help you phisically look at that connection.

I also thought it may be a stuck on relay, but since nothing is labeled and I have no diagrams, I dont know what is what. Guess it is time to start blindly pulling relays one by one and see what happens...but that is a hard way to troubleshoot.

It's a decent way to find the relay, but not so good for tracing all the wires back and forth to find the short if one exists. If a burning smell was present, likely something rubbed through and or melted.

I dont really see how a bad ground could cause circuits to function when they are not supposed to. If those items were on a common ground that was bad, then those circuits would not be able to carry power even when you wanted them to...no?

I don't either unless the relay was gnd triggered which is rare in american cars. Usually a bad gnd causes circuits to stop functioning, not keep functioning.

It could be as simple as the ign switch itself went bad, or one of the wires leading away from it went to shit. There's alot of movement around the colomn and the earlier ones are known for getting loose. As in the wheel moves up and down becuase the column nuts became loose. That could easily short something out.
