Anyone have any experiences with the Himni Racing Solid Motor and Transmission mounts? I am thinking of picking up the set for my car I just wanted to hear some feedback on it.

Well, they guarantee fitment. The way I understand it solid Aluminum mounts are pretty straight forward. Your car will vibrate more, your drive train less, it may make shifts smoother/easier and could help put the power down quicker. And they won't disintegrate in 20 years.

hmm sounds like a plan. What do you mean by vibrate?

Engine vibrations (shaking). Because the mounts are solid there is no play in the system so anything the engine does you WILL feel. IMO, solid mounts are overkill for any street vehicle. It might be worth considering the stiffer rubber Mazdaspeed mounts and Banzai Racing makes some harder polyurethan mounts (95 durometer, I think).

hmm well I am planning on tracking my car. Do you have any experience like can you describe how the engine feels with those mounts? what about the solid mounts for the transmission?

Am I better off running the Banzai engine and tranny mounts?

I heard that solid mounts put more power to the ground. But is it true that the engine is louder?

But is it true that the engine is louder?

Technically, no. But it will transmit more sound (which is just vibrations carried via matter) through the rest of the car, so it will be louder in the cabin. How much I'm not sure, I haven't been in a '7 with solid mounts, but if it's a track car who the hell cares? Performance reigns supreme for a track car...

I use comp mounts from Racing Beat or Mazdatrix, they might even be the same. My car is pretty noisy inside, but I also have the \/\/\/ exhaust, 75% of the interior padding and carpet removed, a whiny performance fuel pump and a slightly noisy diff. And my cheap stereo has a baseline amount of static grumble grumble grumble...

Well once I get my car back I plan on using it as my DD again. I have all of my interior and I plan on keeping all of my interior. I still have the padding and all that stuff. I am planning on running the RB road race exhaust so idk if it would be that loud in the cabin.

It will definitely be louder than stock. Tolerable is a relative term, but I'm betting you'll get used to whatever it sounds like.

Gabriel82

well the engine and tranny set are 90 bux
how much is the banzai racing one?

I think I have gotten to the point where I just want a comfortable ride, if little noises get to me when I am trying to sleep I am sure the loud noise from the engine will get to me as well.

DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I put solid motor and tranny mounts in my car, and it was nice at first, but as my dd for the past 4 years its gotten old, everything vibrates, stuff vibrates loose (bolts, screws ect) random things rattle, you can hear every little whine and vibration from the transmission and motor. I didnt notice shifting to be any smoother either. If it were track only it would be alright, but as a dd its not worth it (the ladies dont like it much either)

it's funny because my gf loves my FC regardless of the noise. She loves the smile it puts on my face. I think I will just got with the poly's from banzai. F-that I don't want annoying noises while I am listening to my jams and just enjoying my FC.

So I just checked and the mounts would cost me 80 bucks more. Are there other options besides Banzai that offer the same or even better quality?

Big +1 here!

Hell, my '89 GXL with stock (probably torn) mounts, springs and struts rattles like crazy - and that's with the AAS set to "normal". Adding stiffer mounts (be stiffer rubber, polyurethane or solid) is going to increase cabin vibration and noise no matter what. I went from the stock rubber mounts to 70 durometer polyurethane mounts (softer than Banzai Racing's mounts) all around on my old turbocharged '02 Mazda Protege5 and when cold that thing would rattle like crazy and it was less than 10 years old. Just imagine what it would be like on a car 20+ years old. Just saying, if rattles, creaks and other noises bother you than I would definitely reconsider. I will be replacing the mounts on my car at some point but whether with polyurethane or stiffer rubber remains to be decided based on what direction I take the car.

Just get a good stereo and crank it up lol, jk. My girl loves rx7's just not mine lol. The constant noises bug the crap out of her.

The himni racing is a cheaper alternative to the bazai racing mounts. I think they sell poly mounts as well.

Rx-7fetish: my gf doesn't have an option if she don't like my ride she might like the sidewalk better hahaha.

infernosg: true I forgot about the cold start and the vibration.

So regardless of what I get it will have more vibration than stock. Hmmmmmmm... I think I will just go with the poly's. I think Himni has ploy ones anyone have experience with them?

Engine / trans mounts are designed to isolate vibration, period.
Stock mounts are designed to isolate in compression and tension.

Metal mounts are not designed to do this.
Most of the aftermarket mounts that have a bolt through a block of (insert favorite material here) only isolate in compression and not tension.

WHY?

Cause these are cheap ass replacements, period.
They are easier to machine and make.
Anyone can drill a hole through a block of material and slap a bolt and nut on it.

No street car should need anything other than stock or upgrade Mazda Comp mounts, period.
Go argue about how much more power you're putting down to the ground - the diff mounts all flex still yet unless you took care of those too?
What about the crappy shocks and springs?
Wow, I just love it when people claim - yeah, I put down more power cause I got stiffer mounts!
The car got too many bushings and dampers that allows the engine's power to get loss due to flex - hell, the whole chassis flexes itself.

So, unless you're building a drag car with a full cage, stupid ass stiff mounts don't do jack except for add noise, vibration, and possibly loosen and break stuff on the car.
Hey, if you're happy with that...it's your car.

Ted is 100% right, especially with these two points.

This is just hysterical -
Wow, I just love it when people claim - yeah, I put down more power cause I got stiffer mounts!

I'd like to hear the explanation for that.

^^^lol so the mazdaspeed motor mounts that corksport sells are the comp mounts that everyone keeps talking about?

Gabriel82

I am just going to run the banzai mounts and just change the bushings and mounts on my differential.

I completely agree with Ted, and i learned the hard way. I wont make that mistake again.

okay so where would I get these competition mounts at? I have seen them on racing beat but what about the transmission?

check that I looked at the parts for sale Ted and I finally understand what you are saying by the pictures and the description you gave me.

oh damn I just noticed those links don't take you where they need to be
well the motor one is under external engine and transmission is under Clutch Pressure Plate

They are great product, dont get me wrong, but if I had to buy all over again, I would go with mazda design components here, the poly just vibrates too damn much, especially if your car is high milage and everything already makes noise... lol.

Also, if a 20yo tells you that something is too noisy, then it must be true! :D
