I had a thread but... There are a couple changes that have been made. :)

I got the car in July of 06. That same month, a friend pushed me to enter an Exciting Gymkhana event while we were on the 2nd to last Sunday drive. I did and haven't missed many events since. I swapped the stock (BLOWN) suspension with some HKS crap coils from a car that was getting junked. After, I just continued to drive the car. I was balls deep in college at this point and didn't get out much. No night drives or mountain runs for me.

OLD PICS!!

A few months after that, I ordered and installed a Racing beat dual muffler, Racing beat rear sway bar and a Suspension Techniques front.

The car handled well and I left it this way for a long time. (I have pics somewhere and I will have to update later). I drove several events and a Poker Run in 2007, only missing about 2 or 3 due to my deployment to Australia. In 2008, I stepped up the events and attended at least 1 driving event every month for the first 1/2 of the year. I am not sure when (timeframe wise), but during the second Poker Run, I had made a stupid mistake that ended up costing me a 18 inch Gram light, Rear Control Arm, Trailing arm, bent RB sway bar, a dented muffler and a bruised ego. (Pics to follow later)

Shortly after replacing all those parts, I was on the road again. (Thanks Nate, Scott and Iggy) This time with a stock rear sway bar. Following that, I upgraded the brakes to Hawk HP Plus pads, Goodrich Stainless steel lines and Toda Fightex Coilovers. I also replaced the heavy 18 inch rims with some 17 inch stock 2000 FD Type RZ wheels made by BBS. I really like the style and color and they look really good on the car. Unfortunatly, they are stock offset and sit a bit sunk in. I have 15 mm spaces in the rear and will eventually get around to pushing the fronts out a bit as well. I coupled that with a set of 225/40/17 Front and 235 40/17 rear Potenza RE01r's .

The Coils dropped the stance of the car another inch or so from the HKS's that I rode on for a long time. I liked it a lot but the car was a bit too low. Unfortunately, the suspension was seized and I could not raise the front coils up. The rears were good, but I changed the height on them to match the front.

Well, I drove it like that for a another year and some change. I added a Power FC and a midpipe for a short time. Although I noticed a difference performance wise, it tended to smoke up top at throttle lift off and I wasn't happy about that. (Blaming it on the Bro Tune!) So, I removed both and went to the stock cat and stock ecu. I continued to drive at least 1 event every month and won a couple of trophies. Once the RE01r's were done, I swapped them out with some 245/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rears Dunlop Z1 Star Specs. During this time I also installed a Greddy twins intake.

I was supposed to leave in June 0f 09 but things came up (med hold and not reenlisting) and I am now here until........ I was going to sell the car but .... Yep. Anyway. The power of the car was starting to bore me. It was still quick, but I wanted more. After several months of talking, researching and considering upgrade options, I decided on my upgrade.

From April to August, I began collecting new parts. I purchased a Greddy front mount IC and a single turbo manifold from B&M. (Thanks Bill). I ordered a bitchin fuel setup from KGparts.com. It came with the stainless steel lines, fittings, Aeromotive FPR, Bosch 1680 secondary injectors, clips and the secondary fuel rail. I also took off the upper and lower intake manifold and shipped it to a ceramic coater in the states. Along with that, the single turbo manifold and the turbo hotside was shipped as well. The upper and lower were coated in 1200 degree chrome and the exhaust housing and exhaust manifold are 2400 degree black.

Entire Fuel kit with SS lines and fittings etc. Everything is included to run stock 550cc primarys with the 1680cc secondaries. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2663/3723927712_a6190d5968.jpg
SS Clutch line, new throw out bearing, new thrust bearing, new rear main seal and something else. My clutch will be almost brand new. No leaks or soft BS for me.

In mid August, I left for my surgery in Hawaii and continued buying parts. I ordered the TechEdge wideband, the Datalogit, Cooling mist water injection, and countless other parts. Also, while I was gone, I had my Greddy front mount and Koyo radiator welded into a V-mount setup. The sides have been ducted and I am working on the back piece to cover the space between the IC and the radiator. I will also fab up a "cooling panel" that covers the front of the bumper near the hood latch location. All this has been done and AC has been retained. I need to tighten 1 nut for the AC system, pressure test, then charge it.

When I returned, my first task was to swap the motor out with a new, street ported rebuild that I had picked up in May ish. Big thanks to RDTH, TJ, Ian, Bill and a few others that helped me out. All the old parts were swapped back onto the motor and, after everything that could have been done was completed, I got the car towed to my house.

Motor Prepped for paint.. That never happened...

I removed the engine harness, depinned all extra sensors and stuff that I no longer need to run the car. Re-wrapped the harness and wrapped in the wires for the FJO injector driver box that is controlling the secondary injectors. No resistors for this guy. I also removed the Defi White Face gauges and installed a set of 5 Black Face (white glow) in their place. I now have EGT, Water Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and Boost all nestled in and around a 3 gauge pod holder that I was waiting for 2 years to receive. All wires were tucked and only about 3 inches of wire can be seen on the dash.

Fuse Block for additional electronics. This way everything is nice, neat and easy to connect.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3512/3723930706_6aa6274220.jpg

I also removed the rear seats and added bins. In the pass side bin, I installed my battery relocation (you can see the write up here Batt Relocation Writeup (http://www.zeroyon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33172)) and in the Drivers side, I installed the wideband, datalogit and water injection controller. Under the steering wheel (and out of site), I installed a HKS turbo timer for the track days. I am notorious for forgetting things and leaving my car on after a run is one of them. On the street, I will never have it on. In the steering column cover is the water level sensor for the water injection. When the water level gets too low, a red light will glow right in front of my face.

Bins installed and closed.

Later, I rewired the fans in order to accommodate the new location of the radiator. I got the IC piping fabbed up and the flange for the Greddy type R BOV welded. Just behind it, i have the port for the wastegate reference and the water injection nozzle. From there, the throttle body has the secondary butterflies removed and I have eliminated everything that I could.

Now the REALLY good part. I bought the turbo from another friend. He had plans to use it on his stateside STI but... Anyway. Its a .82 AR hot side T3 flange GT35r. I know its a bit small, but I need quick response for the driving events that I participate in. Oil feed and return lines are stainless steel and the water feed/return lines are high temp heater hose. Due to the location of the stock water feed/return lines, I did not thing stainless was a good option. It should be good to go. If I have problems, I will purchase some stainless line and swap them out. I also added heat sleeve for all the lines going to the turbo, the heater core line and wrapped the exhaust housing in a turbo blanket. Right now, I have a Tial 44mm wastegate with a 10 psi spring. I shouldn't need more than that but I will see. Boost controller is a Hallman manual BC mounted near the Cusco Oil catch can.

I upgraded the brakes from the stock rotors and HP Plus pads (that just seem to lost their bite) to Brembo Slotted fronts, Stoptech Slotted rears and some EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads.

Decided to give the EBC Yellow Stuff a try. I had the Hawk HP+ pads and, although there was a lot of life left, they had lost that bit that I loved about them. Besides that, they dusted like a mofo. I hope the EBC's will bite as well as the HP's did and not dust.

Downpipe was custom made from stainless steel, spray painted with a high temp black paint (thanks TJ) and wrapped in some header wrap I ordered from Summit. In the works is a resonated midpipe. I am going to order a Borla muffler and add some piping to it to take place of the stock cat. Right now, its a 3 inch, turbo back to a Racing beat muffler. This should quiet down and deepen the note quite a bit and, at the same time, take out the raspiness (sp?).

There are tons of minor odds and ends (like 71 degree thermostat) that I haven't listed because.. well.. I cannot remember them all.

At this point, the car is running but I have run into some issues. Most have been fixed and, as of right now, I am waiting on breaking in the motor (12 KM's down! Only several hundred more to go!!) and a good tune. My intention is to drive the crap out of it. I want to upgrade the suspension and slowly start working on the look of the car. Eventually, I want to install the Feed (or replica) side skirts, the Feed rear spoiler (Type II) and a rear diffuser. I do not want CF but if that's what I get, I will also pick up a CF 99 spec front lip. I have feed +20mm over fenders that will also go on the car. From there, I want to paint the car the 99 spec gunmetal metallic and call it a day. I would love to pick up some sleek headlights (RMagic or RE-A) But that is not a HUGE priority. Basically, (besides paint), the car will be finished for less than 1000 bucks from how it sits now.

The only issue I am worried about now is oil in the turbo. The drain line was pinched and it cause oil to back up into the compressor housing. I have read that this is common if the line is jacked up, but shouldn't damage the turbo seals if taken care of right away. It was, and I hope to have more info on this on Friday. Until then, I am not going to stress it.

Turbo line is figured out. Car is running pretty good right now. It is running super rich however, it needs a tune and some more breaking in. I need to reinstall the cage and a couple other things. Also, I need to get the datalogit connected to the wideband and reading the correct AF ratio. For whatever reason, it isn't working correctly right now. After that, I need to finish the trunk mounted water injection install and it should be good. Right now the car pulls pretty strong and the turbo spools exceptionally quick. I haven't given it a complete comparison yet, but I would say its only a bit slower than the stock twins.

/\ Because you're used to doing that and know where to look in the US.... We're not used to going to Super Autobacs for our shit, lol.

And your parts choices :

EBC
Racing Beat... in Japan? WTF? Where's the Titanium Amuse Exhaust? Or RE-Amemiya at least, lol.
KG Parts stuff
Odyssey
ACT
Goodrich
Walbro
Banzai Racing
Suspension Techniques
etc....

Not saying they are not good parts, but the list just screams American Tuned. I wonder if any Japanese nationals use US parts on their cars, or if they are like us and use shit THEY are used to?
