We take a good deal of interest in the student SAE programs, and this year we're stepping up to assist the efforts at Northern Illinois and Cedarville (OH) Universities.

The NIU project is their SAE Supermileage effort. http://students.sae.org/competitions/supermileage/ In this competition students design and build a car that will be scored on design and overall fuel economy. The cars are powered by highly modified Briggs, single cylinder engines. The NIU students selected a Haltech Sprint 500 ECU to power their car.

The Cedarville Formula SAE Team chose a Platinum Sport 1000 to control their Suzuki GSX-R600 engine. Among other design features, the power plant is being fitted with a hand formed carbon fiber intake built by the team to their specs. The machine work they've done on the suspension pieces is also pretty impressive. Check out the team, their car, and keep track of their project here. http://fsae.cedarville.edu/

Doesnt MTSU have a Formula SAE program just not enough funding to actually compete yearly? I know Tenn Tech and Vanderbilt both do Formula SAE.

MTSU does appear to have a Formula SAE team, but the website says they were planning to compete in the 2006 season. It ends there. Lol.

By sponsoring, do you mean discounted parts or money?
