I thought I would show you my build of my rx7. I wasnt going to do this until I got more done to it, (and the snow was gone) but I thought what the hell...why not just do it now.

This is my second first gen RX-7. My last one I sold when gas was $5 a gallon with no end in sight...and I have been kicking myself in the ass ever since then.
My last car had a street ported 12a, with all of the racing beat goods with it. I miss that car.

I picked this one up last weekend for retarded cheap. It came with a 30k mile mazda replacement engine, and a spare 40k mile 12a (which is on ebay for sale), and a mazda diff.

My intentions are to build it into a "weekend warrior" I guess. Auto-x and HPDE. I also would like to keep it streetable I guess...to drive back and forth to work on occasion.

My plans:
Engine:
-Full racing beat exhaust (header back)
-Rats nest, OMP, etc removed
-side draft carb system (input welcome)
-Jacobs or MSD ign system (input welcome)
-Solid mounts
-Copper or alum radiator
-Oil cooler
-Silicone vacuum lines
-Optima battery

Suspension/Brakes/etc:
-The best shocks I can get (probably tokiko 5 way)
-Coil-overs (probably re-speed)
-Racing beat sway bars
-Strut bars
-Strut bars
-Brakes are gonna be temp Hawks up front and probably not much on the drums in the rear.
In the future its gonna get FC 4pots in the front and discs in the rear
-Wheels, I am not real sure on yet. Kinda sounds dumb but I like the orig. wheels. Tire selection is what is kicking my ass. I am going to pick up some Sumitomo HTR200 185-60's until I decide what I am going to do with my wheels. I was stationed in Japan for 3 years and still have many connections there, so when its time for wheels, I will probably find some old SSR's/watanabes or something. When I figure out my braking situation, that will also factor in my wheel selection, I think.

Interior:
Gonna keep the interior
-Nardi wheel from Japan
-Recaro SPG from my old car in Japan
-add a real oil pressure and water temp gauge
-install nice speakers. Not a ghetto system, but nice components and head unit, ipod compatible

Other:
-fix the lower door panels
-maybe add a small wing, the little lip style wing

Onto some pictures

yeah, the previous owner took care of some minor surface rust. I will repaint that portion as soon as it gets warm out. I also have all of the panels to put back.

I ran up to Michigan yesterday and met a few people for some trading/buying.

Traded my spare 12a for the dellorto/racing beat carb system. I was going to order a dellorto book that everyone rants and raves about, but it turns out the guy had one to give me. I got the complete system that racing beat offered in the '80's and in great shape. I also picked up a racing beat "streetport" exhaust system. -this has the dual b pipe that goes back into the RB power pulse muffler. I had read, and was told to ditch the b pipe and run dual straight pipe (now im debating what size to go with???) to the muffler instead...well after looking at the b pipe, ditching it is the only option. It weighs probably 40 pounds, this one is rusted to high hell and just makes me mad looking at it. lol. My brother is going to fab up a new center section for me. He is also going to sand blast the header and clean it up. It will be like new again, with minimal effort.

Installing a new dellorto carb system, removing a ton of crap from the engine bay, and installing a holley blue fuel pump has led to some issues I am hoping someone can help me with.

Long story short, I have no power to my fuel pump and I can not figure out why.

Can anyone tell me, from looking at these pictures, if I have something disconnected or something that would cause me to not have power to the fuel pump? I drove the car into the garage (the fuel pump worked just fine when I parked it) now it has no power.

Also, when I installed my fuel pump, I bypassed the (what I think) is a one way valve or something??? -basically I have my line straight from the tank to the pump to the carb...well tank > holley pump > filter > holley fpr > carb. Is this ok?

I did not modify this wiring, was like this when I got the car

my instincts tell me that the relay probably crapped itself. try bypassing it and see if you get power to the pump, if so, then replace it. if not, then post back here and we can keep searching for the problem's source.
