Just poking around for some parts and am finding it hard to find a hood damper kit for an FC that is suitable for lightweight (CF or FG) hoods! Anybody running hood dampers with a lightweight hood?

I thought about getting a kit for an RX8 since their hoods are very light to begin with and if it didnt work out, I'd toss it on my 8 anyway....

The problem isn't the wieght of the hood, its the CF not really being able to take the load of the supports. The way we have ours setup, you would need to somehow get a backing plate in there. The better way to do it would be to somehow mount the ball on the hood hinge and the other mounted to the fender.

The gas springs themselves are available in all different strengths. I use 2 50lb for my AL hood and it's a little light in the winter. I also have the vent in mine which added a few lbs way out in the nose where is gets the most torque. I may start looking for some 60lb stainless struts

I bought these on EBAY, works great for a light weight hood.
