I have used bearings similar to yours in drag cars but using heavy synthetic blends (oil) and have done just fine, so the extra clearance and bronze showing is not an issue. But if you plan to drive your car daily and dont want to take it apart after a few months be on the safe side and replace them. Hope this information helps everyone out. Copper bearing wear with rounded edges like the top pic isn't that bad...
I worry about copper bearing wear with sharp cut-off's like the bottom pic. Guarans I would replace that... Since I'm replacing bearings, might as well replace them both, right? Only downside is that you gotta be extra careful on the break-in due to the new bearings. -Ted |
