Yes it can be done; and so far it works great for my car!!!!
Sven is SUPER SUPER helpful and got me all set-up; Speedsource milled my rotors for less than $300 - so $1300 total and you too can have a motor that is stronger; I have never seen an RX8 pull 21" of vacuum at cruise (NOT DECEL) until now.... Dyno results soon. ![]()

I'd be stoked to hit 400WHP no meth on pump gas @15 PSI or so
But in reality I'd probably be at 360-370 until I up the boost and I'll need to add meth or water injection for that.

I'm not sure about this but can you use FD rotors and turn up the boost?

My understanding is it's the plates that are weak point in the renni. They can't handle too much heat or too high combustion pressures.

Not that their is anything at all wrong with that decision but if you were looking for stronger and had to mill the rotors anyway, why didn't you go with 3mm?

It's the width.
I talked to Kevin (Rotary Resurrection) and Speedsource about it.... turns out when they widen the groove; it has a tendency to break off the shoulder of the rotor. But you don't know that until AFTER the motor is re-assembled. If memory serves, Kevin said he loses 1 out of 4 8 rotors milled out... that is too high of odds for me.

Do you know what the failure rate is for milling them deeper for use in earlier 13B engines? I'm assuming that's the milling that you did have performed, correct?

Is what your referring to a machining error? As it needs to be a very accurate/precise machining process? So it being the machinists fault and not the rotor itself?
When machining an FD rotor to 3mm, there have been many cases where machinists don't get it spot on and trash the rotors. But this has to do with the machinist you go to. Once you find the right machinist, trashing rotors is no longer a problem. Just trying to figure out why. Thanks. thewird
