Hmmm, that fuel cell looks very familiar. Wonder where you got that idea.

Seriously, it looks good B. My TII finally arrives tomorrow, so, hopefully, my son and I can get this thing finished up soon.

Keep up the good work.

yea it seems that way, though next big set of mods i do ill probably upgrade my secondaries and fuel pump anyways, just to have a little more cushion...gona talk to dave about those 2k injectors on the pfc

She does need a spanking. Although first with the nice weather, a day off, and some time to think I'll be heading outside to wash, compound, glaze and wax her. Naughty girl

Yup yup, those 2" AL tubes that I stole from you worked out perfectly. I mounted them so they wedge in between the mounting "blocks" that the factory straps mount to. I had to build my own straps with a little padding and the fit is so snug that I can jam the thing in place and it stays without the straps. Pretty cool. A few days ago I went and looked for your pics, they're moved....

Nice, that should be a badass ride when it's done. Good luck Todd.

I need to take a few more measurements in the next few days and send you a few files. It's time to nail down these rear trigger wheels and get them off to you for some cutting and plating.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Although I will say that the idle is SUPERB with the new ID injectors....... I couldn't believe it. Perfect 950rpm, I love 'em thus far. Oh, and there was alot of bitching towards me over on the evil forum about never being able to get the transition right... Idiots, all of them. Didn't even need to adjust anything after I reconfigured the MoTeC for the different sized injectors. What a bunch of keyboard mechanics.

Yeah, I tend to drive around @ 10psi and then up it when it's time to play. I've got that little trim knob to go from 10-15psi in 9 equal increments. Pretty badass.

Fuel cell is obviously done and installed and as far as I can tell, working just great so I thought I'd share the last few pics of this nightmarish RE-REbuild... that's well, not entirely finished just yet. Problems from the first few miles are as follows
Rear end is fragged
The front right ABS knuckle that I picked up is out of shape and causing the rotor to contact the caliper. Yes, that is accurate. I though after I put everything back together that it was a frozen caliper becuase it wouldn't turn. So I bought a new caliper, bled it and the problem was still there. WTF? Fuck it, maybe with some heat she'll loosen up. What a fucking NOISE! Investigated and found the problem. Chewed into the caliper by ~.05". I removed the shim so it would work but still need a new knuckle. Bill's getting a PM shortly.
T/O bearing making some noise - not so concerend because I still need to get that 6-spd in.
Front heat shield for the cell.
better install on the Alpine PDX-5
New battery. I'm starting to hate Optima batteries.

So, onto the last few set's of pics.

I decided to be a baller and get some Mil-Spec fuel cell bulkhead connectors. in hindsight, they're dead sexy, but very pricey. Whatever. I got a tip from the engineers @ MoTeC - Crimp the wires, solder the terminals - cool The terminals are rated @ 13A. That's about what these pumps draw so I decided to double up on them. THe white and 3rd black wire run to a MetriPack connector so I can measure fuel pump voltage AT the pump while running. Pretty badass I think.

Completed pic of the Bosch pump. It's still loud, but I can live with it....... for now.

Completed pic of Denso pump, still quite, still love it.

Look at that heatshrink. WTF is wrong with Raychem, that'll never fit right. BASTARDS!!!!!!!!

oh wait - nmd - I still love those guys

The completed cell. Just need to get some connectors on the end of the harness and she be done.

Filler. filler vent, rollover/atmosphere vent

Access to denso pump. I wasn't about to cut into the floor pan, in hindsight I should've, and if I find myself needing access to the Bosch pump or the sender I probably will. but for now, negatory.

I still need a few pics of the underside Looks pretty cool from the back

Finally, my band-wagon is getting heavy. I have found optima batteries to be a huge PIA. I actually use Exide gel cells now... heavy, but affective.

Blah, I tried the Exides as well and had the same problems. They do NOT like slow draws at all. I've checked and rechecked and I have no shorts but a few things that are constantly on - alarm, radio mem, etc etc. When they die, they're dead. I got a year out of this one, I guess that's alright. I've had them in my DD's for YEARS, and they will last when constantly being charged. But I think they suck balls for project cars. We've had the same problem in my buddies Landy. THe guys kept leaving the battery switched on - Painless Performance remote battery disco - well that fucker pulls about an amp. So when you leave the battery on, you're constantly killing it. THe battery that they said was completely dead was, and we swapped it out. But it now lives on in my XJ and has been fine for months now. The thing to do maybe to keep a trickle charger on it at all times. I dunno. Easy fix though, others not so much.

Exactly! Thats the same issue I've always had... slow draws and wont take a recharge to save their life. It sucks because if you have a purpose built car/truck that sits for a week at a time, they never last and at $100+ a pop, its no fun...

I'll be addressing the battery issue for the FC later, but I think the trickle charger as you say is the only real solution for now...

Either a trickle charge or COMPLETELY disco the battery. But that defeats the purpose of alarms and radio mem's. In a track car it's fine. Setup the disco on the negative side and you'll NEVER have an issue. I've had them hold a charge in storage over a winter doing that. But two+ weeks with a slow drain.... <1A, and they're fucked.

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Maybe the answer is to actually drive the car

Dude i had the same problem with my red top. The first time i re worked my front end in the body shop ( it didnt sit for that long) the damn thing was completely dead. I was kinda shocked. Ive tried braile batteries. I still have one of their lightweight carbon race batteries. Its pretty cool. CCA is really low and i think the CA was only around 700 something. but they make bigger ones too i think.

BTW fuel cell looks super.

brian...i was talking about a VMIC setup....

i was saying that since i did the FMIC setup that most of the work has been done, all thats really needed left is to modify the IC and rad, and make new mounts

i already relocated the battery, and removed all the extra clutter that used to be there, if you remove the IC and rad all thats left is a big hole lol

but like i said, i wana wait till winter when i need to put her to sleep anyways, it would be dumb to do it now when theres still so much nice weather out.

though i swear im gona set the damn car on fire with the way it acts sometimes

If you want the Paul Bunyan of batteries, go with an East Penn Deka Intimidator AGM battery.

I have a Deka ETX16 17lb battery in my fc, been working great so far; I finally installed it in my car after 2 years, it still fired up
