Ok I have replaced the sending unit. But my pressure gauge is still pegged out to the top. This is even when the car is off. Anybody have some ideas of what else to check and or replace.

the gauge itself probably broke when when the sender went haywire and its stuck there (probably for good)... with the wire to the sender disconnected does the needle drop??

nope not at all, stays pegged all the time. Even when you disconnect the battery its still pegged out. I haven't pulled the cluster out yet. I havent yanked one on a vert with a airbag yet. So thats my last resort.

get the Capacitor thingie(wire that attches to the slave) First...if that Works then you got off lucky. If not you may have to get another gauge AND an ECU.( I may be wrong, but I read about the Gauge taking out something on the ECU also(S5).I hate to say it.But Look into the other BIG forum,as it would have more Info Achived..)best of luck to ya,.STYX.

yea i remember something about that and will search. I hope it did not. But the car runs fine, no codes etc. So I am hoping that it didn't fry something on the ECU. But the condenser/cap thing is next on my list.

Actually, it's a broken connection...
High resistance means high on the gauge. "Short" would imply resistance goes to zero, and that would cause the gauge to sit at "0" all the time. Sounds like a broken wire somewhere. ![]() -Ted |

ted the question then would be the break! LOL having to do wiring and the like on jet doesn't mean i really want to do it on the car. But thanks for the info and I will hunt for it this weekend.

Easy test...
Disconnect the wire off the sender... Does this change the way the gauge reacts? I bet it doesn't. On the good side, it's just a single wire going straight to the gauge cluster. If you want to rewire it, just run a single wire straight to the back of the instrument cluster. -Ted |
