I had alot of fun at Zoomfest last year. As much of a Road Atlanta junkie that I am, I am glad to see it move to TGPR. It's more track time for everyone and I think it will be much more user friendly for all. I will most likely be there given the Army doesn't have me doing something that weekend.
As for the Time Attack, I see there are no classes. Any stipulations on the cars? Obviously an RX something, but the reason I ask is because I will most likely be bringing my V8 FD. I know there are plenty of rotaries that are faster than me though, so it shouldn't be an issue, right? :D

In general all you need is a helmet. This FAQ will answer all your questions:

Yes, it was hard for us to move it away from our "home track" but we really wanted to ensure the track time and future growth.
The event is open to any Mazda or Mazda powered vehicle. We will have 4 groups for the track day. A-D, grouped by experience level and level of modifications. I will work on a classing structure for the time attack over the next month.

So I am trying to figure out how this goes...
$20 lets me hang out, but if I want to run the track, at all, it is another $150, and that is only if I am one of the first 40 to sign up?
Help me Billy!

The standard Zoom-Fest ticket is $20. No limit on sales.
The Track day ticket is $150 (includes the $20 standard ticket). Only 40 spots will be sold.

Damn, If I had my 8, I would definitely sign up for the track day.. I would take the MB FD but I don't want to risk it as I have to do some shows this year.

You are thinking of a SCCA PDX. This is not run by the SCCA this year. You will not be limited on track speed. I will say, if anyone continually drives over their head and leaves the track surface, you will be told to leave. All attendees are responsible for track or facility damage as well.

We have agreed with the track to require SA95. This is actually a lesser requirement for SCCA and NASA this year. They have moved on to SA200 or above. Beg, borrow or steal you a SA95 :)

I'm signed up for the track day. Should be a blast.
Now off to find me a helmet. I'm going for a SA2005 so if I ever do
any other events it will cover it for awhile. No use buying multiple
helmets, plus its your head.

You can borrow one if it meets the requirements.

Well, I wish I could make it, but its just not in the cards for me this year (again). No way I can work it into my budget while still being realistic.
I also have a chance to try out a new form of racing (sort of like Stadium racing/autocross) which is getting a lot of publicity but not many cars right now.
I'll try to plan better for next year. :(

I'm planning to make it down there. If nothing else, I want to finally make it to a meet again; however, my real goal is to tun the open session/time attack. In order to do that, though, I'm trying to get a 4 pt roll bar made for my vert, but not having much luck locally.
Anyone want to hook me up with a great price on one? :)

Got my motel reservation in. Still got to get me a helmet tho.
Any advice on an affordable SA2005 helmet? I found a few websites and it
seems to range from $150 to $250 for a new helmet. I'm a newb on buying a
helmet so any advice appreciated.
Since I don't ride a cycle, I'm thinking an open face helmet would be
better for me.

Can I be a passenger of someone's car :) I'll bring some camera equipments and my helmet :)
By the way, I bought a motorcycle helmet as there are shops all around where you could try them on. All fitted differently so, it was good to try on for comfort and size. Not sure that option is available if you just order online without trying it out.
If I track my car you can ride with me....

I was probably not going to track my car as it's not track worty yet. Sorry I did not send in the paypal for the event fee sooner. I hope my lack of sending it in did not cause this by itself.. :(
